Patient Service Representative - Orthopedics & Podiatry - Days

About the position

The Patient Services Representative I - Orthopedics position is responsible for providing front desk coverage in a healthcare setting. This role involves answering calls, scheduling appointments, registering new patients, verifying insurance eligibility, and processing patient charges. The representative will work under general supervision and follow established policies and procedures to ensure efficient patient service and support within the clinic.

Responsibilities

• Provide front desk coverage and greet patients.
• Answer incoming calls and schedule appointments.
• Register new patients in the EPIC system.
• Schedule laboratory and off-site diagnostic tests as requested by physicians.
• Verify insurance eligibility and interpret covered benefits.
• Process patient charges, including totaling fees and applying insurance coverage.
• Calculate adjustments and receive payments in the computer system.
• Assist with clinic set-up and other office support tasks.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Keyboard and computer skills are necessary.
• A valid driver's license is required for off-site duties.
• Maintain automobile liability coverage if using a personal vehicle.

Nice-to-haves

• A minimum of three months previous business office or healthcare experience.
• Previous experience in insurance, managed care, or integrative medicine is preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology or coding is beneficial.
• Bilingual in Spanish is helpful but not required.
