About the position
The UNM Medical Group, Inc is seeking a Full-time Patient Services Coordinator to support in the Medical Records department. This position is responsible for managing patient and physicians requests for medical records, assisting with obtaining outside materials for UH HIM for scanning into Cerner, and acquiring facility notes to send out to referring and partnering physicians. The role involves handling functional areas including New Patient Referral Processing, Insurance Verification, Patient Check-In and Registration, Scheduling, Medical Records, and PBX operations. The Patient Services Coordinator provides direct services to patients by processing referrals, verifying insurance coverage, and serving as the frontline registrar for Medical or Radiation Oncology. This position acts as a liaison with physicians, other providers, and insurance companies as needed. The role is critical to the overall success of the department by meeting established job requirements and performance goals in a demanding and high-producing clinic environment while addressing and meeting the needs of patients and/or physicians.
Responsibilities
- Manage patient and physician requests for medical records.
- Assist with obtaining outside materials for UH HIM for scanning into Cerner.
- Acquire facility notes to send out to referring and partnering physicians.
- Handle New Patient Referral Processing, Insurance Verification, Patient Check-In and Registration, Scheduling, Medical Records, and PBX operations.

Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirements may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
- Verification of education and licensure (if applicable) will be required if selected for hire.
