About The Position

The Payroll Manager at Panasonic North America is responsible for overseeing the payroll functions across the Americas, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and collective bargaining agreements. This role involves managing a team, developing payroll strategies, and maintaining high levels of customer service while ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for approximately 14,000 employees. The position requires collaboration with various departments and third-party vendors to enhance payroll operations and compliance.

Requirements

  • Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, HR Management, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 to 7 years' experience managing a multi-state payroll function.
  • Experience with Workday HCM, Payroll, Time Tracking, and ADP WorkforceNow.
  • Membership in the American Payroll Association and/or SHRM.

Responsibilities

  • Direct day-to-day payroll functions while ensuring high customer service and satisfaction.
  • Manage, develop, coach, and support 7 direct reports across multiple U.S. regions.
  • Establish a high-performing team and lead a culture of accountability.
  • Develop payroll strategy in partnership with HR, Legal, Finance, and Tax Departments.
  • Oversee mergers and acquisitions activity and payroll-related projects.
  • Create and maintain relationships with third-party vendors for payroll-related services.
  • Ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements and address trends to eliminate manual labor.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of company policies and procedures.
  • Partner with Payroll Accounting to ensure timely payments and deductions.
  • Stay updated on U.S. employment tax legislation and provide direction on compliance matters.
  • Sign off on payroll processing and auditing for various pay cycles.
  • Ensure timely and favorable audit findings related to SOX and other audits.
  • Monitor compliance in Workday timekeeping module and oversee payroll deductions.
