About the position

ProNexus, LLC is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee the payroll functions for diverse clients in Rockland County, NY. This role involves managing payroll operations, ensuring compliance with laws, and implementing process improvements. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to client service.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees on a bi-weekly/monthly basis.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and employment laws.
  • Verify employee time records, including overtime, deductions, and benefits.
  • Handle payroll-related inquiries from employees and resolve issues promptly.
  • Analyze current payroll processes and systems, identify areas for improvement, and implement changes to optimize efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Develop, test, and implement new payroll processes and tools, ensuring they align with company goals.
  • Train payroll staff on new processes, tools, and regulatory changes.
  • Ensure all payroll taxes, deductions, and benefits are accurately calculated and remitted in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Prepare and submit various reports for internal and external audits, tax filings, and government compliance.
  • Stay updated on relevant payroll legislation, tax rates, and compliance standards to maintain payroll accuracy.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot payroll systems, ensuring data integrity and security.
  • Collaborate with IT to enhance payroll software and streamline systems for better performance.
  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports, including tax filings and benefit reconciliations.
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise the payroll team, ensuring they have the necessary tools and knowledge to succeed.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records, including pay stubs, tax filings, and deductions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in payroll.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, payroll systems, and ERP systems (QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reconciliation.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with vendors, customers, and colleagues.
  • Analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities to resolve discrepancies and improve processes.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a customer service or client-facing role, and/or public accounting, consulting or advisory roles is advantageous.
