About the position

The position provides support in the installation of application software, upgrades, and maintenance of desktops and peripherals for Hill College. The role includes user support and training, as well as upgrades and maintenance of network operations for the institution.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs computer hardware, software, and peripherals in a timely manner.
  • Cleans computer equipment and performs general maintenance on equipment to ensure that it is in optimal condition.
  • Evaluates and disposes of older hardware and software as needed.
  • Monitors network performance and alerts management of an unstable network.
  • Maintains inventory, passwords, and computer-related work orders.
  • Installs, configures, and upgrades operating systems on faculty and staff computers.
  • Performs computer related training.
  • Responds to service calls and completes work orders from the helpdesk.
  • Provides support for distance learning and audiovisual equipment use.
  • Manages assigned computer lab operations, including lab scheduling, as required.
  • Sets-up and dismantles hardware during registration.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or a combination of experience and education that yields the required knowledge skills, and abilities.
  • Preferred: Two to four years in technology support.
  • Ability to be detail-oriented.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to develop and execute plans.
  • Ability to operate an IBM compatible computer and other standard office equipment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to think critically and apply appropriate problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to articulate and support the values and Code of Conduct of Hill College.
  • Ability to interpret and abide by the policies and procedures of Hill College.
  • Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and multi-task with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information.
  • Ability to repair and maintain computers and computer-related machines and equipment.
