About the position

As a PDP Manufacturing Engineer for JD Waterloo Works located in Waterloo, IA, you will plan, coordinate, and perform manufacturing engineering work, as well as assign, coordinate, and review portions of work to support personnel including contractors. You will influence the product design through concurrent engineering to ensure manufacturability and communicate issues through the Design for Manufacturing (DFM) process. Additionally, you will develop an overall project plan based upon the Manufacturing Design phase activities and execute tasks by program milestone dates. You will lead detailed E-Builds of the product and process design ensuring DFM/DFA requirements are met while also providing design improvement ideas to improve safety, quality and cost and track them through closure. Furthermore, you will develop, order, procure, and tryout of all tools/fixtures that are required with adherence to the machine acquisition process; utilize the Line Design process to create/document the plan and then execute on the shop floor and support facilities preparation and build execution for an assigned assembly area.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Knowledge of manufacturing and/or distribution processes, quality, tooling, tool design, total preventative maintenance, and facilities.
  • Knowledge of capital budgeting and capital equipment justification process.
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturing, incentive pay systems, and Ergonomics.
  • Skill in using computer aided design and/or engineering tools.
  • Background in Engineering (manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, power systems, etc.).
  • Effective communication, problem-solving skills, and experience working on a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2 or more years' experience in one or more related areas: Manufacturing Engineering, Material Flow, Operations, Product Design, Supply Management, or Quality.
  • 1 or more years with line and process design, material presentation, cycles of imbalance and visual management tools.
  • Experience working with Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP).
  • Experience with JDAAT, MAAP, Creo-View, SAP, and AutoCAD.
  • Demonstrated Project Management abilities.
  • Proven record of continuous improvement projects.
