About the position

Acceleration Academies is dedicated to enhancing student outcomes through innovative educational programs. As a PE Content Coach, you will play a crucial role in our dropout recovery and student re-engagement initiatives, helping young adults navigate real-life challenges to earn their high school diplomas at no cost. Our approach is rooted in the belief that every student deserves access to high-quality instruction, tools, and resources. You will be part of a team that utilizes our technology platform, Incite®, to facilitate data-driven teaching and learning, ensuring that our Graduation Candidates (GCs) receive the support they need to succeed. In this full-time position, you will report to the District Director and work primarily at our North Las Vegas location. Your responsibilities will include teaching a competency-based blended curriculum, developing supplemental lessons, and providing interventions to help GCs demonstrate proficiency through both formative and summative assessments. You will also be responsible for monitoring attendance, academic progress, and overall wellness, serving as an advisor to your assigned GCs. Your role will require collaboration with the GC support team to create personalized learning plans and advocate for the academic achievement of each student. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree and a K-12 Physical Education endorsement in Nevada, along with 1-3 years of relevant teaching experience, preferably in a high school setting. Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) are highly preferred. You will need to demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to adapt and be flexible in a non-traditional school environment. Your commitment to supporting at-risk youth and your understanding of technology in education will be essential to your success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Support new GC enrollment through recruitment and engagement efforts.
  • Assist with the development of Personalized Learning Plans for GCs.
  • Serve as an advisor for assigned GCs by facilitating communication between the learner and the GC support team, monitoring attendance, academic progress, and overall wellness.
  • Plan and deliver content area instruction in individual and group settings and monitor GC progress toward course completion and content mastery.
  • Conduct formative and summative assessments to gauge GC academic progress.
  • Demonstrate skills in analyzing and using data for instructional decision-making.
  • Provide remediation and enrichment opportunities for individuals and groups of GCs.
  • Participate in the development and success of GC data meetings, Professional Development workshops, and other school/community events.
  • Work closely with the GC support team to develop learning pathways, behavior, and transition plans to improve GC academic achievement.
  • Participate in academy meetings and other community events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • At least 1-3 years of relevant teaching experience, preferably in high school.
  • K-12 Physical Education endorsement in the state of Nevada is REQUIRED.
  • Demonstration of a clear state and federal criminal history.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Basic understanding of behavior intervention strategies.
  • Experience working in a non-traditional school setting and/or with at-risk youth.
  • Strong understanding of and comfort with the use of technology in an educational setting.
  • Experience with project-based learning, instructional coaching, portfolio assessment, and competency-based education.
