About the position

The Associate in Operations & Manufacturing at Alvarez & Marsal's Private Equity Performance Improvement (PEPI) team plays a crucial role in enhancing operational efficiency for private equity clients. This position involves leading complex client engagements, analyzing manufacturing and distribution operations, and implementing strategic solutions to drive value creation. The role offers significant opportunities for career advancement and skill development within a dynamic and growing business environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver large, complex client engagements in collaboration with PE leadership.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of a target's manufacturing and distribution operations, including organization design and production capacity.
  • Evaluate the maintainability and operability of production facilities.
  • Review current and historical data to assess efficiency and capacity, including equipment conditions and maintenance logs.
  • Provide insights from the shop floor by engaging with employees and customers and analyzing available data.
  • Identify potential cost improvement opportunities through lean improvements, outsourcing, or facility consolidation.
  • Develop transformation plans to implement proposed changes and identify key risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Implement and oversee the quality of deliverables while managing team performance and client relationships.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of professional experience, with a minimum of 3 years in manufacturing and/or distribution functions.
  • Deep functional expertise in supply chain operations, manufacturing operations, or related areas.
  • Experience in manufacturing strategy, CapEx planning, and Manufacturing 4.0/IIoT.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, TOC, and Value Engineering methodologies.
  • Excellent fact-gathering and analytical skills, including business process mapping and quantitative analysis.
  • Experience in designing and executing change/communications strategies.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
