About The Position

The Personnel Security Specialist position at the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) involves determining and analyzing the suitability and security eligibility of individuals for sensitive and non-sensitive positions. Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must pass a security investigation.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-12 in the Federal service, including experience with federal security policies and personnel security case management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Determine and analyze the suitability and security eligibility of individuals for entry and retention in sensitive and non-sensitive positions.
  • Lead and coordinate technical security systems for the authorization and issuance of a standardized identification badging program.
  • Provide advice, assistance, and innovative recommendations to supervisors and managers on complex problems and sensitive issues.
  • Evaluate the nature of information received and recommend or take appropriate action based on potential adverse or derogatory information.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to develop, coordinate, direct, and assess the agency-wide security program throughout Headquarters and field offices.
