About the position

The Pharmacist at Walgreens is responsible for providing pharmacy consulting services, ensuring the effective usage of medications, and enhancing patient care through various healthcare services. This role involves compounding, dispensing, and verifying medications while adhering to regulatory guidelines and company policies. The pharmacist also plays a key role in optimizing pharmacy operations, improving patient experiences, and supporting the pharmacy manager in financial and inventory management.

Responsibilities

  • Engage patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolve patient issues in a timely manner and answer questions to ensure a positive patient experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Connect with patients by anticipating needs and proactively offering services.
  • Counsel patients regarding medication usage, side effects, and interactions.
  • Perform pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, and medication management.
  • Ensure the pharmacy operates in accordance with regulations and company policies.
  • Assist pharmacy manager in establishing efficient workflow procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of pharmacy systems and technology to support staff and patients.
  • Process insurance claims accurately and resolve patient issues.
  • Perform clinical and wellness services such as immunizations and diagnostic testing.
  • Develop connections with the local medical community and participate in outreach activities.
  • Assist the Pharmacy Manager with staff hiring and training.
  • Promote teamwork and motivate team members by establishing expectations and monitoring progress.
  • Maintain current knowledge and required licensing as per regulations.
  • Communicate relevant corporate health and wellness services to pharmacy staff.

Requirements

  • BS in Pharmacy or Pharmacist Degree from an accredited educational institution.
  • Current pharmacist licensure in the states within the district.
  • Experience performing prescription dispensing activities with knowledge of state and federal controlled substance laws.
  • Certified Immunizer or willing to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least 1 year experience as a pharmacist in a retail setting including prescription filling and verification.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy operations, software, and technology systems.
  • Experience with insurance processes and compliance.
