About the position

The Outpatient Pharmacist position involves providing pharmaceutical care in an outpatient setting, ensuring the safe and effective use of medications. The role requires a current Alaska license and flu vaccination, with responsibilities spanning from medication management to patient education. This position is a 13-week assignment with a Monday to Friday schedule, emphasizing the importance of a Pharm.D. degree and relevant experience in pharmacy practice.

Responsibilities

  • Provide pharmaceutical care to patients in an outpatient setting.
  • Manage medication therapy and ensure safe medication use.
  • Educate patients on medication usage and potential side effects.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient care.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in EMR systems.

Requirements

  • Current Alaska pharmacist license required.
  • Flu vaccination required.
  • Pharm.D. degree and licensure as a registered pharmacist.
  • Candidates licensed prior to 2003 with a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree will be considered with 3 years of experience in hospital and/or ambulatory clinic pharmacy.
  • An unrestricted license as a registered pharmacist in any state is necessary.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CPR and AED, may be obtained within 1 year of hire).

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of a nationally recognized (by ASHP) pharmacy residency program preferred.
