About the position

The Pharmacy Graduate Intern engages in post-graduate pharmacy activities under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, fulfilling State Board of Pharmacy requirements. The role involves providing pharmacy consulting services, ensuring proper medication compounding and dispensation, and supporting the pharmacy's operational efficiency while enhancing customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members.
  • Develops strong relationships with customers by anticipating their needs and proactively offering services.
  • Participates and assists in community events as requested by management.
  • Counsels patients and answers their questions regarding medication usage and side effects under supervision.
  • Performs pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, and medication management.
  • Ensures the pharmacy operates in accordance with regulations and company policies.
  • Maintains current knowledge of pharmacy systems and proposes enhancements to promote productivity.
  • Ensures accurate processing of insurance claims and follows up with providers as needed.
  • Performs retail, clinical, and wellness services such as immunizations and preventive healthcare services.
  • Assists the pharmacy manager in analyzing performance data and reviewing KPIs.
  • Develops and maintains good relationships with the local medical community.
  • Partners with Central Pharmacy Operations for customer registration and issue resolution.
  • Assists the Pharmacy Manager with staff hiring and training, and promotes teamwork among staff.
  • Maintains current knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare through continuous learning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from an accredited University outside the United States.
  • Foreign Pharmacist Graduate Equivalency Certificate (FPGEC).
  • Intern permit/certificate issued by the respective Board of Pharmacy, if required.
  • Willingness to obtain pharmacist licensure within 45 days of completing intern hours.
  • Experience performing prescription dispensing activities with knowledge of state and federal controlled substance laws.
  • Certified Immunizer or willingness to become one within 90 days of hire.
