About the position

The Pharmacy Intern position at Walgreens is a part-time role designed for individuals pursuing a career in pharmacy. The intern will assist pharmacists and pharmacy team members in providing excellent patient care while adhering to state and federal regulations. This role emphasizes learning and applying pharmacy policies, procedures, and customer service best practices to enhance the patient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Develop strong relationships with customers.
  • Assist in the practice of pharmacy under the supervision of the pharmacist, complying with state, federal, and company policies.
  • Perform duties related to entering, processing, filling, and dispensing prescriptions as assigned by the pharmacist.
  • Assist pharmacists in delivering patient care and services, including patient counseling and health services.
  • Report prescription errors to the pharmacist and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
  • Register all related sales on the cash register and handle cash as required.
  • Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention.
  • Support inventory management activities in the Pharmacy Department.
  • Ensure the Pharmacy Department is stocked, clean, and orderly.
  • Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a pharmacy program or equivalent education.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy operations and customer service best practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to policies and procedures.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy systems and software.
