About the position
The Pharmacy Technician at Mercy plays a crucial role in supporting pharmacists in the preparation, compounding, and dispensing of medications. This position is accountable to the supervising pharmacist, who is responsible for ensuring the care and safety of patients served by the pharmacy. The Pharmacy Technician must adhere to applicable standards and federal, state, and local laws and regulations to ensure the safety of customers and patients. The role is structured to provide a supportive environment where technicians can grow and develop their skills while contributing to the healing ministry of Mercy. The position is available in three tiers: Tech I, Tech II, and Tech III, each with specific educational and experience requirements. Tech I requires a high school diploma and registration with the Missouri Board of Pharmacy, while Tech II and Tech III require additional experience and certifications. All technicians must demonstrate proficiency in using pharmacy automation technology systems and be able to troubleshoot automated pharmacy technology. The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and the position offers a $2,000 sign-on bonus. Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications.
- Follow applicable standards and federal, state, and local laws and regulations for patient safety.
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge and use of pharmacy equipment, including robotic dispensing equipment and automated dispensing cabinets.
- Operate pharmacy automation technology systems and manage workflow effectively.
- Perform initial troubleshooting for automated pharmacy technology and associated software.
- Work under time constraints to meet the needs of the pharmacy and patients.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalence exam.
- Actively registered with the Missouri Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician or willing to submit an application by the first day of work.
- 1-year relevant pharmacy experience preferred for Tech I; required for Tech II; 2 years required for Tech III with IV Compounding and hazardous medication handling experience.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) preferred for Tech II and required for Tech III.
- Demonstrated proficiency with pharmacy automation technology systems and workflow management.
