About The Position

The position involves providing comprehensive patient scheduling, registration, insurance verification, and coordination of various medical services. The role requires clinical skills in phlebotomy, EKG, and other diagnostic procedures, while maintaining effective communication and coordination during high-volume situations. This is a full-time float role covering multiple locations with specific operational hours.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of educational requirements including formal education/training and competency evaluations.
  • CPR Certification from the American Heart Association required within 30 days of hire.
  • One year of clerical, customer service, or administrative support experience in a customer-oriented organization.
  • One year experience with basic keyboarding and personal computer use.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous phlebotomy or registration experience (training provided upon hire).
  • One year of Epic (or equivalent Electronic Medical Record) experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and capillary specimen collection in an ambulatory setting.
  • Validate patient identity and specimen integrity, maintaining knowledge of specimen requirements and clinical protocols.
  • Document all stages of specimen collection in required computer systems.
  • Maintain clinical skills necessary to perform duties.
  • Complete cleaning tasks utilizing regulatory standards.
  • Perform maintenance and/or inventory of equipment and supplies according to unit/department standards.
  • Perform complete and accurate patient registration for walk-ins and scheduled appointments.
  • Adapt and perform during high volumes and/or high patient acuity.
  • Support inbound and outbound calls to or from patients and guests as needed.
  • Verify patient, guarantor, coverage, and hospital account information.
  • Perform required referral/authorization processes and enter orders for applicable tests.
  • Understand insurance company coverage and referral/authorization requirements.
  • Prepare and/or release records or orders in the e-Health record.
  • Complete assigned patient scheduling and registration work queues according to performance standards.
  • Disseminate information regarding co-pays, out-of-pocket expenses, and appointment preparation.
  • Support Point of Service Collections.
