About the position

The Physical Modeler Expert at BLYK Engineering Services is a full-time position based in Greensboro, NC, offering a competitive salary range of $105,000 to $110,000 per year. The role involves setting up, operating, and maintaining precision milling machines, ensuring that all equipment is functioning optimally and adhering to maintenance schedules. The successful candidate will be responsible for tool selection and maintaining a clean and organized work area, which is crucial for safety and efficiency. A positive attitude and the ability to collaborate with co-workers to promote a safe working environment are essential attributes for this position. In addition to machine operation, the Physical Modeler Expert will ensure that CAD data is complete and satisfactory for milling components, which includes closing out models as required. The role also involves designing armatures and working cross-functionally with the Design Studio. The candidate will assist in planning events, prototype modeling activities, and estimating task durations. Active participation in all studio activities related to the project is expected, along with building a cooperative network between design and engineering teams. The position requires the creation of various technical specifications to guide design work, including sketching, clay modeling, and generating 3D data. The ideal candidate will possess strong competencies in Mastercam, with a minimum of 10 years of experience, and knowledge of CATIA is considered an asset. The ability to propose engineering design solutions in support of the Design team is crucial, as is the capacity to juggle multiple assignments simultaneously while maintaining a high level of dependability and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and maintain precision milling machines.
  • Perform tool selections and maintain equipment by following maintenance schedules and instructions.
  • Maintain a clean work area and assist in machine maintenance.
  • Promote a safe work environment by maintaining a positive attitude and collaborating with co-workers.
  • Ensure CAD data is complete and satisfactory for milling components, including closing out models.
  • Design armatures and work cross-functionally with the Design Studio.
  • Assist in planning events, prototype modeling activities, and estimating task durations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Mastercam.
  • 1 year of experience with CATIA.
  • 1 year of experience in construction painting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and visual.
  • Ability to propose engineering design solutions in support of the Design team.
  • Dependability and reliability in following through on commitments and timely delivery of projects.
  • Flexibility to perform a wide range of tasks and adapt to changes in direction and priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of 3D printing and clay model work.
  • Experience in painting as an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with limited direction.
