About the position

The Physical Security Systems Application Specialist is responsible for supporting and maintaining various security applications and systems, including access control, CCTV, CAD reporting, and visitor management. This role requires a strong background in information technology, with a focus on system installation, upgrades, troubleshooting, and technical support. The specialist will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal performance and security of these systems.

Responsibilities

  • Install and upgrade hardware, operating systems, and software for access control systems, including monthly security patches.
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain access control systems from vendors such as Honeywell, Genetec, and Software House.
  • Review diagnostics and assess the functionality and efficiency of access control systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute access control device programming and ensure on-prem server maintenance.
  • Provide technical support to identify, investigate, and resolve user problems.
  • Occasionally cover Photo ID Station in a fast-paced, high-volume area.
  • Occasionally process access request tickets/emails.
  • Install and upgrade hardware, operating systems, and software for on-prem CCTV systems, including monthly security patches.
  • Manage and monitor on-prem CCTV systems, particularly Milestone CCTV systems, for surveillance and server maintenance.
  • Perform regular inspections and maintenance of CCTV system equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Support the operation of Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) reporting tools to create and analyze security-related reports.
  • Oversee the visitor management system, ensuring accurate and secure visitor registrations.
  • Conduct staff training on proper procedures related to visitor management, access control, and VMS systems.
  • Provide technical support for security applications and servers, with specific experience in Microsoft SQL Server and Windows Server operating systems.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to implement updates and patches to enhance system security.
  • Update the department's standard operating procedure (SOP) for access control, Video Management, CAD, and Visitor Management systems.
  • Provide project management on projects determined appropriate by the department's Senior Manager of Systems and Technology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field (Required).
  • Minimum of five years' experience in a similar role, preferably within a healthcare or critical infrastructure setting (Required).
  • Profound knowledge of access control, CCTV (Video Management System), CAD reporting, and visitor management systems.
  • Familiarity and hands-on experience with security systems from Honeywell, Genetec, Software House, and Milestone Video Management System.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server and Windows Server operating systems.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
