Responsibilities
- Completes initial assessments and ongoing assessments of patients.
- Develops appropriate treatment plans with specific goals based on evaluations.
- Provides direct therapy to patients daily following the patient's plan of care.
- Instructs patients and families in therapeutic procedures.
- Maintains accurate and concise records on treatment provided and patient's progress.
- Documents all care provided in the patient's electronic medical record in a timely manner.
- Supervises the physical therapist assistant's treatment interventions and professional growth.
- Maintains departmental policies and procedures regarding safety and infection control.
Requirements
- Licensed Physical Therapist in the state of current practice or qualifications for traineeship or temporary license.
- BLS Basic Life Support certification (preferred upon hire, required within 30 days for BSMH).
- 2 years of experience in equivalent setting (preferred).
- Demonstrates appropriate application of age-specific standards in patient care.
- General computer skills including data entry, word processing, email, and records management.
- Analytical abilities to evaluate patient condition and progress.
- Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with co-workers, physicians, patients, and families.
- Ability to work well with all levels of patients and healthcare professionals.
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills.
