About the position

Altru Health System is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Family Medicine Physician to join its dedicated team in Grand Forks, North Dakota. This position is part of a physician-led, community-owned integrated healthcare system that includes a Trauma II hospital, a specialty hospital, and numerous clinics throughout Grand Forks and the surrounding areas. With over 200 physicians across 44 specialties, Altru serves a referral population exceeding 225,000 residents in northeast North Dakota and northwest Minnesota. As the first member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network, Altru's providers benefit from access to clinically integrated tools that extend Mayo Clinic's knowledge and expertise to their patients. In this role, the Family Medicine Physician will evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with various injuries or illnesses. The physician will also provide counseling on preventative healthcare measures and exercise their own judgment in patient care, adhering to Altru's policies and standards. Achieving the Patient Engagement and Quality & Safety goals set annually by Altru Health System is a key responsibility, along with maintaining accurate and timely documentation to ensure quality patient care and appropriate reimbursements. The physician will also be expected to participate in departmental activities and support goals as defined by the department on an annual basis. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with injuries or illnesses.
  • Counsel patients on preventative healthcare measures.
  • Exercise independent judgment in the diagnosis and treatment of patients according to Altru's policies and standards.
  • Achieve Patient Engagement and Quality & Safety goals established annually.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation for quality patient care and reimbursement assurance.
  • Participate in departmental activities and support departmental goals as defined annually.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in the specified field of medical practice from an accredited school.
  • Eligibility to sit for either the Canadian or American Board certification or certification by the Canadian Board and membership in the Royal College of Physicians or Royal College of Surgeons.
  • American board certification or AOA board certification must be obtained within five years of employment.
  • Legal licensure to practice medicine in North Dakota and/or Minnesota, depending on the assigned practice location.
