About the position

The Physician Program Director at Johnson & Johnson's Abiomed team is responsible for establishing and managing formal Impella programs in collaboration with hospitals and key opinion leaders. This role focuses on building sustainable relationships, optimizing patient outcomes, and supporting the commercial organization through best practice implementation and program development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop sustainable relationships with designated accounts, health systems, key opinion leaders, and stakeholders to maximize Abiomed's formalization of Impella programs.
  • Develop and manage Impella programs based on individual customer needs and interests that align with Abiomed's goals.
  • Understand hospital market dynamics, identify gaps in operational efficiency and patient care, and deploy tools to reach more patients.
  • Present complex health economic information to diverse groups in an engaging and credible manner.
  • Advocate for heart recovery programs to health system administration and engage with hospital administrators for project alignment.
  • Facilitate customer advisory boards for feedback on new products and evaluations.
  • Identify and develop new key opinion leaders through various programs and visits.
  • Serve as a liaison between Key Opinion Leaders, healthcare system leaders, and Abiomed's executive team.
  • Execute and facilitate customer meetings at major medical shows such as ACC, TCT, and SCAI.
  • Communicate routinely with sales and Abiomed leadership teams.

Requirements

  • BA/BS required; MBS or MBA preferred.
  • 4 or more years of successful sales experience within Abiomed or over 7 years of related industry sales experience.
  • Prior KOL management experience or existing relationships in the geographic area.
  • Ability to travel overnight extensively (70% depending on geography).
  • Strong understanding of US healthcare policy and payment systems, including hospital and physician reimbursement.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with experience in developing relationships at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with tactical execution.
  • Demonstrates responsiveness and a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Mastery of cardiac anatomy and clinical data.
