About the position

The Aultman Medical Group is seeking a dedicated physician to provide non-surgical primary and continuing care to patients. This role is pivotal in ensuring that patients receive the highest standards of care while adhering to the ethical and moral conduct expected at Aultman Health Foundation. The physician will be responsible for examining patients, obtaining medical histories, and treating both acute and chronic illnesses in various settings, including outpatient and inpatient environments. The position requires a collaborative approach, working closely with patients, their families, and the interdisciplinary care team to make informed decisions regarding treatment and care delivery. In this role, the physician will order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests, ensuring that patients are involved in their care decisions. The physician will also initiate specialty referrals as necessary, working with Aultman Medical Group resources to maintain continuity of care. A significant aspect of the job involves providing clinical information to the care team in a timely manner and ensuring that patient documentation is accurate and complete. The physician will collaborate with practice management to ensure compliance with billing, coding, and CPT code assignments, while also striving to achieve optimal patient access. The physician will participate in the development of medical protocols and standard procedures, contributing to quality improvement initiatives and serving on various committees. On-call coverage is a requirement of the position, and the physician must respond promptly when called. The role also includes providing supervision and oversight to Advanced Practice Providers and promoting health education in collaboration with other health professionals. Overall, the physician will play a crucial role in enhancing the health and well-being of patients at Aultman Medical Group.

Responsibilities

  • Examine patients, obtain medical histories, and treat acute and chronic illnesses in outpatient and inpatient settings.
  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests.
  • Involve patients and their families in care and treatment decisions.
  • Collaborate on improvements in care delivery and service with staff, other physicians, and management.
  • Initiate appropriate specialty referrals, ensuring continuity of care for patients.
  • Work in conjunction with the Care Delivery team for specific patient groups or conditions.
  • Provide clinical information to the interdisciplinary team in a clear and timely manner.
  • Ensure that proper patient documentation is timely, accurate, and complete.
  • Work with practice management to ensure compliance with billing, coding, and CPT code assignment.
  • Achieve and maintain optimal patient access.
  • Provide interdepartmental medical consultation as requested.
  • Participate in the development of medical protocols and management of patient-care-related activities.
  • Provide on-call coverage as assigned or agreed to, responding in a timely fashion.
  • Give and accept feedback from all staff in a respectful manner.
  • Act in a positive and professional manner, complying with practice policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Degree of M.D. or D.O. with ABIM-recognized internal medicine residency, AOA-recognized internal medicine residency, ABFM-recognized family medicine residency, or AOA-recognized family medicine residency.
  • Valid and active board certification, or board eligibility per medical staff bylaws, in appropriate specialty area.
  • Valid and unrestricted Ohio medical license.
  • Valid DEA registration and Controlled Substance Certificate.
  • BLS certification (as required).
  • ACLS certification for hospital and LTC facility work (as required).
  • Continuing medical education (CME) as required.
