About the position

The Pipe Foreman is responsible for overseeing construction activities, ensuring quality and safety standards are met while providing direction to the assigned crew. This role involves planning, coordinating, and supervising the work of craftsmen on various industrial construction projects, including refineries and power plants. The foreman must ensure that projects are completed according to design, budget, and schedule, while also mentoring craft personnel and maintaining compliance with safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Promote safety and ensure safe working conditions around construction hazards.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise construction activities of crews.
  • Review contracts, scope documents, drawings, specifications, and estimates thoroughly.
  • Study project execution documents including safety plans, schedules, and cost breakdowns.
  • Establish shop-specific rules and logistic guidelines for the crew.
  • Participate in project kick-off and team-building activities.
  • Ensure project construction adheres to design, budget, and schedule.
  • Interface with the Superintendent and project team members to resolve schedule problems.
  • Provide leadership and management for craftsmen, organizing and laying out work.
  • Ensure availability of materials, drawings, manpower, tools, and equipment when needed.
  • Provide prioritized work activity instructions to craftsmen and monitor their progress.
  • Assist with the implementation and interpretation of safety programs.
  • Verify compliance with ASME, ANSI, and associated codes as required per project.
  • Maintain adherence to QA/QC manual policies.
  • Mentor craft personnel for professional development and determine their training needs.
  • Monitor crew fatigue and manage overtime schedules responsibly.
  • Work within company policies, client policies, and OSHA safety requirements.

Requirements

  • Five years of formal training and experience in heavy industrial projects such as refineries and power plants.
  • Familiarity with construction methods, techniques, and labor requirements for industrial projects.
  • Ability to effectively interact with project team members, clients, subcontractors, and craft employees.
  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to manage craft employees effectively.
  • Hands-on job foreman experience.
  • Completion of safety-related certifications such as OSHA 10 or equivalent programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
