About the position

The Pipelayer position at PCL Construction in Bradenton, Florida, involves contributing to the Civil District team by performing essential tasks related to the installation of mechanical piping systems. The role requires a strong background in the pipe-fitting and mechanical trade, with a focus on safety and compliance with OSHA regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in various piping materials and the ability to read and interpret construction drawings.

Responsibilities

• Perform layout, set elevations, and grading for piping installations.
• Install above ground mechanical piping and supports.
• Install carbon steel piping and Victaulic couplings, with additional experience in copper piping being a plus.
• Read and interpret contract documents, submittals, shop drawings, and architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings.
• Create a safe working environment and adhere to OSHA regulations.
• Communicate tool and material requirements to the supervisor.
• Set up and perform piping tests.
• Identify potential issues during installation and report them to the Foreman/General Foreman.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in the pipe-fitter/mechanical trade.
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
• Experience in carbon steel, copper (soldering, brazing), and PVC installations.
• Experience setting mechanical equipment including clarifier equipment and pumps.
• Reliable transportation to the job site.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work well with others.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug test.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Victaulic couplings and fittings.
• Familiarity with additional piping materials and techniques.
