About the position

The Planner position involves processing and coordinating development application reviews under the supervision of the Community Development Director and/or Planning Manager. The role requires assisting the public and development community with inquiries related to development regulations in Berthoud, as well as presenting information to the Planning Commission and Board of Trustees. A strong emphasis is placed on providing positive customer service to both external and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Responds to requests from citizens and developers regarding information on current land use applications and general development requirements.
• Development review intake, process and manage development review applications.
• Participate in the Historic Preservation Commission, Planning Commission and Town Board of Trustees meetings/land use hearings.
• Support for special projects as assigned, including code amendments, long-range and strategic planning projects.
• Oversee the daily activities of the Town's Addressing, Architectural Compliance, Lot Diversity programs.
• Participate in the Town's GIS database development.
• Audit digitized files and digitize planning files.

Requirements

• General knowledge of land use planning and development processes.
• Experience in customer service and public engagement.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Familiarity with GIS and planning software.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with historic preservation and community development projects.
• Knowledge of local government operations and regulations.
