About the position

The Plant Maintenance Mechanic at The University of Texas at Arlington is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of Thermal Energy Plant equipment, systems, and structures. This full-time position requires working in a dynamic environment, ensuring efficient and safe operation of plant equipment, and contributing to the overall maintenance of the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Operate all equipment in the plant in an efficient, safe and effective manner.
  • Perform and assist in the preventative maintenance and repairs of all plant equipment.
  • Read and record pressures, temperatures, fluid levels, and other operating conditions of the plant equipment.
  • Serve in the after-hours service call center and relay messages to the proper personnel to maintain smooth campus operations.
  • Conduct water analysis on cooling towers and boilers to ensure proper levels of chemicals in the system to maintain a scale and corrosive free system.
  • Ability to drive UTA vehicle.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED
  • Two (2) years of related experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two (2) years of experience in the operation and maintenance of a central utility plant.
  • Knowledge of the functions of a central utility plant.
  • Knowledge of building automation systems (i.e., Siemens, Johnson controls, etc.).
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills (MS Office).
