About the position

The Plant Utility Operator A at U.S. Silica Company is responsible for micron bulk sacking and provides operational coverage for various positions within the plant. This role emphasizes safety, quality control, and efficient operation of equipment, ensuring compliance with environmental standards and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform micron bulk sacking operations.
• Provide operational coverage for other positions throughout the plant.
• Conduct visual inspections of equipment and work areas before shifts.
• Document workplace inspections and report unsafe conditions to management.
• Maintain cleanliness in high traffic areas and manage spills properly.
• Operate, inspect, and calibrate bagging and flour loading equipment.
• Conduct product sampling and testing according to Quality Control Documents.
• Perform minor maintenance on equipment such as chutes, bins, and conveyors.
• Complete daily shift production reports detailing product amounts and maintenance issues.
• Load bulk railcars, tanker trucks, and container trucks.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• High level of safety and quality awareness.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Capability to work in outdoor conditions during all seasons.
• Ability to climb multi-levels using stairs and ladders.
• Experience using hand tools such as shovels, hammers, and wrenches.
• Good problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) regulations.
• Forklift experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and equivalent process software.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with WonderWare or equivalent equipment process software.
• Experience with JD Edwards (JDE) or similar warehouse management software.
