About the position

The Platform Engineer at ManTech will serve as a Subject Matter Expert for lifecycle maintenance of non-nuclear surface ships, ensuring material readiness and overseeing the execution of Class Maintenance Plans (CMP). This role involves coordinating with various engineering and maintenance teams, validating technical requirements, and developing maintenance strategies to support the operational readiness of naval vessels.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Port Engineers, Technical Warrant Holders, In-Service Engineering Agents, Ship Design Managers, and Regional Maintenance Centers regarding maintenance and modernization.
  • Conduct reviews of CSMP, CMP, and other data sources to create Engineered Work Packages for CNO availability.
  • Validate existing CMP content through engineering and data analysis, updating man-day and material cost estimates based on actual return costs.
  • Assist in the development of CMP tasks for Program and Fleet Modernization requirements with associated configuration data for assigned ship class.
  • Coordinate CMP Processing activities, including the development and monitoring of Baseline Availability Work Packages (BAWPs) and Availability Work Packages (AWPs).
  • Develop and deliver engineered ship-specific Shipsheets in support of Planning, Programming, Budget and Execution (PPBE).
  • Assist in the development and delivery of Technical Foundation Papers for assigned ship class to ensure Expected Service Life (ESL).
  • Support the development of metrics for processes and products, providing recommendations for improvements in CMP and SURFMEPP Activity processes.
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the Class Maintenance Plan and the Maintenance and Shipwork Planning database for surface ships.
  • Assist with the adjudication of Technical Feedback Reports (TFBR) and CMP notifications regarding deferrals and technical requests.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in applied science or engineering field.
  • Working knowledge of Naval Ships, preferably LPD Class of Ships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (SharePoint, Power Point, Excel, Word, etc.).

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated engineering experience as Naval Officer or Senior Enlisted (Chief, Senior Chief, or Master Chief).
  • Prior experience as Port Engineer or Project Manager for subject ship class.
  • Demonstrated maintenance planning experience with amphibious surface ship classes.
  • Qualification as Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW) if prior active duty Navy.
  • Experience with Navy Maintenance through Ship Yard, serving onboard a ship or on a Project Team during a ship's Depot Level (CNO Avail) or throughout an Optimized Fleet Response Plan (OFRP) Maintenance Cycle.
  • Knowledge of navy correspondence.
