The PLC Programmer position at J.M. Huber Corporation involves providing essential process control and instrumentation support for the HSH Bauxite facility. Under the guidance of the Technical Manager, the incumbent will focus on ensuring reliable equipment operation and enhancing capacity and efficiency through process control optimization. This role requires maintaining the process control infrastructure, which includes all field and automation systems hardware, such as Honeywell DCS and Modicon Quantum PLCs. The successful candidate will also need to troubleshoot these systems and act as the site ICS administrator. A willingness to learn other programming languages, such as Allen Bradley, is essential as the role may require adaptation to various systems used within the plant. The incumbent will collaborate closely with the maintenance planner and operations team to plan and execute all process control development work and troubleshoot instrumentation functionality. A critical aspect of this role is to audit, track, and rectify unsafe conditions while ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations. The incumbent will also be responsible for promoting the Huber Principles among employees, fostering a culture of safety and efficiency. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting process control issues, optimizing existing control logic, supporting project engineers in contractor-related activities, and evaluating new process control technologies. The role also involves supervising control tasks performed by employees, including training and corrective actions. Major challenges include optimizing processes with minimal production impact and effectively communicating project needs to management. The incumbent will assist in planning and scheduling all process control or instrumentation activities, participate in maintenance scheduling meetings, and manage parts inventory. In terms of process control systems management, the incumbent will engage in process development activities, program PLC and DCS changes, modify plant control systems, and support manufacturing operations in technical problem-solving. Maintaining performance and maintenance records, developing calibration programs, and facilitating training for technical staff are also key responsibilities. The role requires active participation in operational excellence initiatives and the management of change processes related to instrumentation and controls.
