Skookum is seeking a knowledgeable and helpful Plumber II with a positive attitude to join our team at the Naval Air Station Whidbey Island in Oak Harbor, Washington. This position is classified as non-exempt and offers a competitive compensation rate of $49.92 per hour. As a Plumber II, you will be responsible for a variety of plumbing tasks, including testing, certifying, and repairing backflow assemblies, as well as maintaining and inspecting medical gas piping systems. You will also be involved in the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing equipment and components across various systems, including water, sewer, swimming pools, inert gas, natural gas, air vacuum, compressed air systems, steam, and POL equipment. Your typical duties will include removing blockages from drain lines, adjusting and repairing leaky joints and faucets, and installing or replacing plumbing fixtures such as hot water heaters, sinks, and toilets. You will be expected to operate, clean, and maintain the necessary tools and special equipment, perform scheduled maintenance on plumbing systems, and ensure compliance with all relevant codes and environmental protection requirements. Additionally, you will maintain preventive maintenance and repair records and read and understand technical drawings and work plans. To qualify for this position, you must hold a Journeyman Level Plumber (PL01) certification and have a minimum of 5 to 8 years of plumbing experience. A Backflow Assembly Tester (BAT) certificate for the State of Washington is preferred, along with knowledge of plumbing codes and regulations. The role requires physical stamina, as you will need to lift up to 50 pounds and perform various physical tasks such as kneeling, climbing, and standing for extended periods. You will also need a valid state driver license and the ability to obtain necessary security clearances. This position may require being on call for priority calls and snow events.
