About the position
The Plumber at Mount Carmel Health System plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of plumbing systems within the hospital. This position involves a variety of responsibilities, including the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing distribution systems and associated mechanical equipment. The work schedule is full-time, with shifts from 6 AM to 4:30 PM, allowing for a structured workday that contributes to the overall well-being of both colleagues and patients. The Plumber is responsible for maintaining plumbing systems in compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines, as well as standards set by JCAHO and NFPA. This includes informing supervisors of any non-compliance issues. The role requires a general understanding of various office machines, hospital equipment, kitchen equipment, and other tools necessary for the job. Key tasks include installing, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on water, sewer, natural gas, and medical gas systems, as well as sterilizers and washers. Additionally, the Plumber will maintain and perform preventive maintenance on dirty linen chutes, fire sprinkler systems, and lawn sprinkling systems. The position also involves assisting in evaluating and maintaining an inventory of spare parts, tools, and other necessary hardware.
Responsibilities
- Maintain plumbing systems within federal, state, and local guidelines, and inform supervisors of non-compliance.
- Possess general, mechanical, and operational knowledge of office machines, hospital equipment, kitchen equipment, and other equipment as job necessitates.
- Install, repair, maintain, and perform preventive maintenance on water, sewer, natural gas, and medical gas systems, sterilizers, washers, and other related plumbing equipment.
- Maintain and perform preventive maintenance of dirty linen chutes, fire sprinkler systems, and lawn sprinkling systems.
- Assist in evaluating and maintaining an inventory of spare parts, tools, equipment, and other necessary hardware.
Requirements
- High School graduate or GED; vocational training or apprenticeship training program preferred.
- License is preferred.
- Four (4) years experience in installation and repair of plumbing systems.
- Experience in blueprint reading and knowledgeable of commercial plumbing codes.
- Experience in the use of plumbing equipment and the ability to troubleshoot malfunctions effectively.
- Experience in the installation and repair of storm and sanitary sewer systems, medical gas distribution systems, vacuum systems, and domestic water systems.
- Must have a valid Ohio driver's license.
