The Plumber position at Tsay Professional Services involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing plumbing systems, specifically for water distribution systems, oil/water separators, and holding tanks. The role requires assembling, installing, and repairing pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems in accordance with specifications and plumbing codes. The plumber will study building plans and drawings to determine the necessary work aids and the sequence of installation, while also inspecting structures to avoid obstructions that could weaken the installation of pipes. In this role, the plumber will locate and mark the position of pipes and connections, cutting openings in walls and floors as needed. The position requires the use of various tools, including pipe cutters, cutting torches, and pipe-threading machines, as well as manual methods for bending pipes. The plumber will also assemble and install valves and pipes made from various materials, joining them using screws, bolts, fittings, and caulks. Additionally, the plumber will fill pipe systems with water or air to check for leaks and will install and repair plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, and hydrants. The job also includes performing general maintenance tasks, such as replacing washers in leaky faucets, mending burst pipes, and opening clogged drains. The plumber may be required to learn the operation of a Vactor truck and will need to use various tools and equipment for plumbing tasks. The position involves working in various conditions, including inclement weather, and may require the use of ladders or lifts to work at heights. Safety is a priority, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory. The plumber will also be responsible for driving company vehicles on a Federal Installation.

Responsibilities

  • Cuts and threads pipes using various tools and methods.
  • Bends pipes to required angles using pipe-bending machines or manual methods.
  • Assembles and installs valves and pipes made from various materials using hand and power tools.
  • Joins pipes using screws, bolts, fittings, couplers, solder, and caulks.
  • Fills pipe systems with water or air and reads pressure gauges to identify leaks.
  • Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, and hydrants.
  • Repairs and maintains plumbing by replacing washers, mending burst pipes, and opening clogged drains.
  • Disposes of scrap building materials and unserviceable parts according to regulations.
  • Performs general janitorial housekeeping in the work area.
  • Inspects and performs maintenance in crawl spaces and under buildings.
  • Works outside in various weather conditions and on slippery surfaces.
  • Uses ladders or lifts to work on structures or equipment above ground level.
  • Exhibits proper use of PPE and drives company vehicles on a Federal Installation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of journeyman level experience or formal vocational/technical training.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Minimum Class B CDL with airbrakes endorsement preferred.
  • Backflow Preventer and/or DS III Water Distribution Certification preferred.
