About the position

The Deputy Chief of Staff will assist the Chief of Staff by ensuring that the Commissioner's vision, goals, and department mission are being met. The Deputy Chief will assist with coordinating and facilitating specific strategic initiatives on the Commissioner's and Chief of Staff's agenda. The Deputy Chief of Staff will act in the Chief of Staff's absence to ensure awareness and appropriate notification on emerging issues that require the Commissioner's or Chief of Staff's input. The Deputy Chief of Staff assists with maintaining communication functions throughout state government, among the agency's staff, as well as with the public and other interested stakeholders. The Deputy Chief will research and report on all trends that are occurring within corrections, criminal justice agencies, and court decisions to advise the Chief of Staff. Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Chief of Staff in ensuring the Commissioner's vision and goals are met.

  • Research and report on trends in corrections and criminal justice.

Requirements

  • At least seven (7) years of full-time or equivalent part-time professional experience in business administration, public administration, or related fields.
  • At least four (4) years of experience in a managerial capacity.
  • No felony convictions or disqualifying actions as defined by federal law.
