About the position

The Podiatrist-Deputy Associate Chief of Staff Education/Deputy Designated Education Officer is a Detail position not to exceed 120 days. This position involves providing leadership, advice, and subject matter expertise in tasks, projects, and assignments related to Health Professions Education (HPE) programs within the VA health care system. The role includes advocating for resources, ensuring proper accreditation, overseeing trainee onboarding, and managing educational programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and subject matter expertise in HPE programs.
  • Advocate for adequate resources for health professions education.
  • Allocate payments for accreditation and match service fees.
  • Ensure proper accreditation is maintained for all programs.
  • Establish and implement local procedures as directed by OAA national policies.
  • Report affiliation and HPT challenges to facility leadership.
  • Oversee and facilitate the onboarding of HPTs.
  • Use Trainee Satisfaction Survey results to improve training quality.
  • Recruit HPTs into VA employment.
  • Ensure execution of affiliation agreements for educational purposes.
  • Act as a point of contact for affiliation agreements.
  • Review and sign residency training program letters of agreement.

Requirements

  • Degree as a doctor of podiatric medicine from an approved school.
  • Completed or currently completing residency training in an accredited core specialty.
  • Currently hold a full and unrestricted license to practice Podiatry.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

  • Experience in developing and deploying educational programs.
  • Experience with appointing nursing and associated health trainees.
  • Experience managing associated health trainee funding.
  • Experience with establishing and executing affiliation agreements.
