About the position

The Portfolio Manager at Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC) is responsible for overseeing the development and management of the fine wine divisions to achieve sales and profit objectives. This role involves establishing strategies, managing budgets, evaluating performance, and maintaining customer relationships while monitoring market conditions and trends.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development and management of the fine wine divisions to achieve sales and profit objectives.
  • Establish, recommend, and implement strategies, objectives, policies, and plans for the company's wine sales program.
  • Develop and administer the budget for the sales program.
  • Evaluate and control performance to plan.
  • Create and utilize comprehensive sales plans that analyze competitive trends and devise effective counter strategies.
  • Provide current information on trends and new products within and outside the current portfolio.
  • Travel to sales territories statewide to monitor field activities and market conditions.
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships within the marketplace.
  • Interact with suppliers and provide updates on product successes and opportunities.
  • Plan and develop annual sales forecasts by product line and region.
  • Execute and participate in various sales meetings.
  • Recommend advertising campaigns and performance incentive programs for the sales department.
  • Analyze past sales performance data to develop strategies for improvement.
  • Engage in difficult negotiations to develop new business and resolve critical issues affecting the sales program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred.
  • Five or more years of related experience with an alcoholic beverage wholesaler or supplier, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current, valid state driver's license.
  • Ability to meet vehicle insurance requirements as defined by the company.
  • Alcohol Beverage Commission (ABC) License, as required by the state (i.e., TABC License - Texas).

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in the Wine and Spirits industry.
  • WSET certifications.
