About the position

The Portfolio Manager role at Texas Capital Bank is a critical position within the Credit Administration department, specifically supporting the Commercial Real Estate line of business. This role is designed to drive the strategic vision of the bank by working closely with Analysts, Associates, and Relationship Managers to assess potential risks and identify cross-sell opportunities. The Portfolio Manager is tasked with maximizing portfolio performance and is expected to lead deals from opportunity to closure with minimal oversight. This includes monitoring portfolio quality against established criteria and recommending adjustments to existing credit facilities as necessary. The Portfolio Manager also plays a vital role in ensuring best-in-class customer service by acting as an internal consultant and liaison between Credit and the Line of Business. In this position, the Portfolio Manager will be responsible for a variety of tasks that include managing the renewal process, handling past dues, exception management, and ongoing review of covenant compliance. They will calculate and monitor interest reserves and operational reserves, track tenant and lease approvals, and oversee collateral accounts. Additionally, the Portfolio Manager will conduct portfolio reviews, monitor construction progress, and assess leasing activity against original underwriting assumptions. They will also be responsible for tracking changes in net operating income (NOI) and borrower debt service coverage ratios (DSCR), as well as assisting with regulatory exams and ensuring accurate loan coding in the system. Candidates for this role must possess strong analytical skills, the ability to process large amounts of information, and the capability to communicate effectively. They should be innovative problem solvers with a keen attention to detail, and they must be able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. The Portfolio Manager will also be expected to demonstrate leadership skills and a passion for delivering superior client experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the renewal process by collaborating with Relationship Managers, clients, and credit teams on extensions, renewals, modifications, and amendments.
  • Handle past dues, including payment and maturities, and manage exception cases.
  • Conduct ongoing reviews and validate covenant compliance for the portfolio.
  • Calculate and monitor interest reserves and operational reserves, ensuring replenishment per the loan agreement.
  • Approve tenant and lease agreements, tracking budgeted line items for tenant improvements, leasing commissions, and capital expenditures.
  • Monitor collateral accounts and ongoing property financial covenants, including cash management and sweep activities.
  • Direct and manage portfolio reviews, ensuring thorough assessments of construction progress and internal consultations with Construction & Engineering teams.
  • Review leasing activity, comparing actual lease-up rates against original underwriting assumptions and market conditions.
  • Monitor changes to net operating income (NOI) and track borrower debt service coverage ratios (DSCR) and upcoming tests.
  • Assist with regulatory exams and ensure accurate loan coding in the loan system.
  • Prepare post-approval modifications to ensure accurate reporting of credit exposure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, Commercial Banking, or a relevant program.
  • 5+ years of experience in Commercial or Corporate Banking with formal credit training.
  • Exceptional writing, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • High levels of motivation and initiative, with a strong team player mentality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint for report and presentation creation.
  • Proven leadership skills and community involvement in relevant activities.
  • A passion for financial services and a commitment to delivering superior client experiences.
