About the position

The Portfolio Manager is responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of dealer clients with lines of credit that range from $50,000 to $2,500,000 within the Chicago West and Eastern Iowa geographic territory. This role requires building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, optimizing their use of the line of credit, identifying and mitigating pre-default account risks, and supporting post-default collections on defaulted accounts. The Portfolio Manager acts as a subject matter expert, ensuring that clients are educated on performance behaviors, self-service options, and best practices to comply with company policies and expectations. In this position, the Portfolio Manager will collect and analyze client financial information and various internal reports to assess dealer performance. They will utilize historical data and tools to identify growth opportunities and clients experiencing financial distress. Collaboration with the Risk and Recovery department is essential for pre-default risk mitigation and post-default collection efforts, with a focus on minimizing losses and maximizing recovery. The role also involves physical inspections of inventory and ensuring quality control through audits and self-reconciliation. The Portfolio Manager serves as a fiduciary for the company, identifying and reporting any material non-compliance or fraud. They are expected to document all client interactions in Salesforce and complete required campaigns. Onboarding new clients to ensure a positive experience is also a key responsibility, along with cultivating cross-functional relationships within Cox Automotive and participating in various projects and initiatives as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize each client's use of the line of credit within an assigned portfolio.
  • Achieve goals and performance targets set by the company through regular client engagement.
  • Educate clients on performance behaviors, self-service options, and best practices.
  • Collect and analyze client financial information to assess dealer performance.
  • Utilize historical data to identify growth opportunities and clients in financial distress.
  • Collaborate with Risk and Recovery for pre-default risk mitigation and post-default collections.
  • Minimize loss and maximize recovery through effective account management.
  • Conduct physical inspections of inventory and ensure accuracy of audits and repossession.
  • Document all client interactions in Salesforce as required by company KPIs.
  • Onboard new clients to ensure a positive and successful client experience.
  • Cultivate cross-functional business unit relationships and opportunities.
  • Participate and support other projects and initiatives as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 4 years' experience in a related field (finance, client facing, B2B, account management, and/or collections).
  • Knowledge of the automotive and finance industries.
  • Proficiency in reading and analyzing financial statements such as profit & loss, balance sheets, tax returns, and bank statements.
  • Strong financial acumen with knowledge of key financial tools and terminology.
  • Ability to identify risk indicators through data tools.
  • Strong presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with clients and collaborate with internal teams.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to manage deadlines.
  • Strong negotiation and collection skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a remote environment.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and Salesforce.
