About the position

The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) is seeking a highly qualified postdoctoral researcher for NIH-funded projects focused on understanding the impact of RNA viruses on cellular dynamics during infection. The role involves utilizing plant viruses and the model host Arabidopsis thaliana to explore virus-host interactions, integrating traditional virological assays with high-throughput sequencing approaches to better understand gene expression and translation patterns during infection. Responsibilities

• Conduct research on RNA viruses and their impact on cellular dynamics during infection.
• Utilize plant viruses and Arabidopsis thaliana as model systems for studying virus-host interactions.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Virology, Microbiology, or a related field.
• Strong skills in experimental design and critical thinking.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Illumina or Nanopore sequencing platforms.
