The Postdoctoral Associate position in the Varanasi Research Group at MIT is a full-time role focused on advancing innovative bio-interfaces and biopsy techniques aimed at the early detection of ovarian cancer. The group is dedicated to developing novel surface- and fluidic-based devices designed to capture cells from human organs, particularly the fallopian tubes. This position is pivotal in conducting research that spans a variety of projects, concentrating on both epithelial and stroma cells. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing innovative cell capture approaches, evaluating the impact of these techniques on cell viability and other biological markers, and translating research findings into practical clinical applications. In addition to cell capture techniques, the role involves studying the mechanobiology of these systems and probing the bio-physicochemical properties of the tissues and captured cells. This includes understanding and identifying potential biomarkers through electrical and optical assessments. The Postdoctoral Associate will also be expected to contribute significantly to scientific conferences and publications in peer-reviewed journals, thereby enhancing the visibility and impact of the research conducted within the group. This position offers a unique opportunity to collaborate closely with multiple teams at MIT, working within a focused, multidisciplinary environment that fosters innovation and scientific discovery.
