About the position

California Bank & Trust, an affiliate of Zions Bancorporation, is looking for a seasoned Power & Project Finance Portfolio Manager in El Segundo, CA. This role focuses on identifying appropriate lending opportunities, soliciting, and developing all types of business activity, specializing in commercial loans and participates in the development of overall commercial loan objectives, policies and practices. The Power & Project Finance Group is a specialized team of experienced industry experts with a proven record of structuring and efficiently executing custom financing solutions for owners of power generation assets and power-related infrastructure projects across the United States. The team provides construction and term debt, acquisition financing, revolving credit facilities, and letters of credit for projects in the solar, wind, natural gas-fired, energy storage, geothermal, hydroelectric, and transmission sectors. This team's deep experience is complemented by the full product suite of Zions Capital Markets, enabling the team to perform all essential roles of a syndicated project financing, including loan syndications, administrative agency services, and interest rate hedging. Typical project financing transactions range from $50 million to over $500 million.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and servicing a portfolio of project finance loans primarily centered in the power industry.
  • Identifying key credit risks, recording and monitoring borrower covenants, ongoing account servicing, monitoring operating and financial performance.
  • Preparing extensive credit reviews which requires working with complex financial models.
  • Providing documentation review and closing support during the execution of new lending opportunities.
  • Maintaining various internal databases and handling reporting on loans.
  • Assisting bankers on the originations team with new loan requests.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact on closed loans and working directly with clients.
  • Applying all applicable credit policies and procedures to the execution of the risk management process.
  • Assisting senior bankers with the mentoring and training of a team of associates and credit analysts.
  • Working independently with limited supervision.
  • Handling other special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics or related field.
  • 8+ years of banking experience in relationship management, underwriting, and/or credit/portfolio management.
  • Experience in project finance, structured finance, and/or commercial real estate finance highly preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of various types of loans, credit analysis, and financial statements.
  • Excellent credit skills in underwriting including financial statement analysis, financial modeling, and valuation.
  • Excellent customer service, relationship, organizational, analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of various software applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Moody's Risk Analyst, S&P/Capital IQ, and Teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience can also be filled at Portfolio Manager III which requires at least 5 years banking experience.
