About the position

The Pre-Award Grant & Contract Administrator II (GCA II) at the University of New Hampshire plays a crucial role in supporting research administration activities. This position is designed for individuals who excel in customer service and possess strong analytical skills. The GCA II will be responsible for a variety of tasks including proposal submissions, budget development, monthly expense reconciliation, personnel effort review, and monitoring account balances. The role requires close collaboration with Principal Investigators (PIs) to ensure they have accurate and timely information to support their research outcomes. The GCA II will work under the guidance of the STAR Team Lead - GCA III and will be expected to meet the financial and administrative needs of the PIs effectively. In this full-time remote position, the GCA II will engage in both pre- and post-award research activities, which necessitates a comprehensive understanding of the administrative components of proposals. This includes familiarity with standard proposal requirements, budget development, and compliance with federal and state regulations related to sponsored projects. The ideal candidate will have a background in finance or business, with at least three years of experience in sponsored projects administration, negotiation, and budgeting. Strong communication skills, both oral and written, are essential, as is the ability to work independently while also being a team player. The GCA II will also be expected to demonstrate problem-solving skills, manage conflicting responsibilities, and prioritize tasks to consistently meet deadlines. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with faculty, administrative staff, and students in a higher education environment is a key aspect of this role.
