In this vital role, you will act in conjunction with the Obesity Therapeutic Area head to advance the development and execution of Precision Medicine objectives. You will lead a cross-functional team to develop and execute translational and precision medicine strategies to support asset (and above-asset, as needed) development across the product lifecycle. Additionally, you will partner with cross-functional Therapeutic Area leads across Research & Development to guide the development of translational, reverse translational, and precision medicine strategies. As the strategic integrator of various stakeholder inputs and multiple lines of evidence, you will be responsible for the development of translational medicine and precision medicine strategies at the asset and/or indication level. You will set a strategic vision to enhance the value of the asset across the product lifecycle through clinical biomarker target identification, indication selection, early indication of biological activity, and patient stratification/selection, including reverse translation strategies. You will also course correct as needed by incorporating deep mechanistic insights and -omics signatures into actionable precision medicine strategies. Your role will involve leading cross-functional teams in the development and execution of phase-appropriate, integrated biomarker and human data plans to support translational pharmacology and inform patient selection strategies. You will serve as the key liaison between research and development by providing clinical translational considerations (proof of target engagement, dose selection, patient selection) to inform discovery asset development, as well as enabling reverse translational strategies to gain mechanistic insights related to patient stratification and response/resistance for assets in clinical phase. Furthermore, you will provide precision medicine considerations to shape disease area strategies, including disease endotypes, indications, and combinatorial approaches. You will also provide subject matter expertise to inform registrational and access and use evidence generation plans. Working cross-functionally, you will evaluate appropriate data sources and strategies for translational/precision medicine execution and propose funding/collaboration needs to appropriate Commercialization Governance Forums.
