About the position

The Prepared Foods Cook at Whole Foods Market is responsible for performing all functions related to the preparation and maintenance of various food items, including those in the cold case, fresh pack, salad, and hot bars. This role ensures that food quality and presentation meet the high standards of Whole Foods Market, while also performing essential duties related to stocking and sanitation. Team Members are expected to provide courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and fellow Team Members at all times, ensuring a positive company image. All tasks must be performed in accordance with the store's Standard Operating Procedures, and Team Members must be prepared to fulfill the duties inherent in other job descriptions as needed. In this position, the Cook will prepare food items according to production sheets and recipes to ensure quality and consistency. They will also be responsible for labeling, dating, covering, and monitoring prepared items for quality and freshness, as well as replenishing food levels in a timely manner. Punctuality and proper grooming are essential, as is the ability to provide excellent customer service and address customer needs effectively. The Cook will maximize sales potential through effective procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising products, while ensuring compliance with established health and sanitation procedures. Maintaining a clean and sanitary working environment is crucial, as is the maintenance of equipment according to Whole Foods Market cleanliness and safety standards. The Cook will perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned, ensuring the accuracy of signs and pricing, and will report any safety hazards or violations immediately. Other duties may be assigned by store, regional, or national leadership as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares food items for the cold case, fresh pack, salad, and hot bars according to production sheets.
  • Prepares food items according to recipe to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Ensures that all prepared items are labeled, dated, covered, monitored for quality and freshness, and rotated.
  • Monitors food levels and replenishes in a timely manner.
  • Arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work; works all scheduled shifts and attends required trainings and meetings.
  • Provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques; answers phones and pages promptly and courteously.
  • Maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product.
  • Follows and complies, or ensures compliance, with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
  • Maintains, or ensures maintenance of, a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; maintains equipment in accordance with WFM cleanliness and safety standards; ensures walk-ins and freezers are clean and organized.
  • Performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned; ensures accuracy of signs and pricing.
  • Immediately reports safety hazards and violations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership.

Requirements
