About the position

As a Pricing Data Specialist at Hy-Vee, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the department's standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, professional appearance, and overall profitability. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that products are available to customers in a timely manner while accurately maintaining all item parameters in the product management software. This position requires a strong focus on customer service, as you will be expected to create a friendly atmosphere and provide prompt, courteous service to all customers. You will also assist store management with gross profit analysis and other management reporting functions, ensuring that inventory information is accurate for monthly inventory assessments. In this role, you will utilize product management software to minimize out-of-stock situations and maintain correct item parameters and signage to maximize sales and profits. You will be responsible for ensuring that advertised, EDLP, and RDA items are priced and signed correctly, and that sufficient quantities are ordered. Additionally, you will monitor excess inventory, report on damage or unsaleable items, and implement solutions to reduce these issues. Your ability to work with upper management to determine product placement for new items and resets will be essential in ensuring timely presentation of products to customers. The Pricing Data Specialist will also be expected to maintain strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress, report to work when scheduled and on time, and assist in other areas of the store as needed. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains the department standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, professional appearance and overall profitability.
  • Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions.
  • Assists customers by escorting them to the products they're looking for, securing products that are out of reach, and loading or unloading heavy items.
  • Makes note of and passes along customer suggestions or requests to enhance the shopping experience.
  • Assists store management with gross profit analysis and other management reporting functions.
  • Ensures inventory information is accurate for monthly inventory.
  • Utilizes product management software to minimize out of stocks and maintain correct item parameters and signage.
  • Ensures advertised, EDLP, and RDA items are priced and signed correctly and sufficient quantities are ordered.
  • Maintains special buys to ensure accuracy of parameters in product management applications.
  • Performs inventory and pricing verification in accordance with Hy-Vee policy.
  • Works with upper management to determine product placement for new items and resets.
  • Ensures obsolete and discontinued inventory is reduced for quick sale.
  • Monitors excess inventory and works with store management to minimize.
  • Monitors and reports on damage/unsaleable and implements solutions to reduce them.
  • Edits and transmits replenishment and ad orders.
  • Ensures price changes and product information changes for all items are completed in a timely manner.
  • Assists department managers with questions concerning product management in their department.
  • Works with DSD vendors, checks in and balances vendor invoices.
  • Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Strong basic math skills necessary.
  • Over six months to one year of similar or related experience.
  • Ability to solve practical problems with a variety of variables and limited standardization.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Ability to interview to obtain basic information and guide people to provide basic direction.
