About The Position

The Principal Engineer-Software Development at Verizon Data Services Inc. is responsible for leading software development and system architecture within the network and customer migration group. This role involves overseeing platform architecture, guiding development teams, ensuring quality standards, and managing global vendors. The engineer will also evaluate new technical products, prepare presentations for stakeholders, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver strategic initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 6 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or as a Software Developer, Software Engineer, Engineer-Systems Architecture, or in a related/similar position.
• 6 years of experience in software development and system architecture using Struts, Java, J2EE, Spring Boot, Microservices, C++, MQ, VMB, Pulsar, Oracle, Postgres, MySQL, Cassandra, Linux, Solaris, RHPAM, Advanced Workflow and Queue Manager (AWQM), Kafka, DevOps, and SAFE and Agile methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Act as a lead in the network and customer migration group providing software development and system architecture.
• Oversee platform architecture and ongoing core application development by guiding the development team.
• Ensure quality standards by enabling quality gates and code reviews for production readiness.
• Perform ongoing architectural assessment and maintain standard processes and procedures.
• Evaluate various new technical products based on changing business needs and make product recommendations to management.
• Lead the end-to-end delivery of key initiatives.
• Manage global vendors and coach and mentor to deliver a strategic program.
• Estimate and deliver on key strategic initiatives as prioritized by business and IT leadership.
• Identify actionable insights, suggest recommendations, and influence the direction of decisions for the organization.
• Prepare presentations and reports for business stakeholders and leadership team.
• Design cost-effective solutions with cutting-edge technologies using architectural constructs.
• Prepare operations review cases backed with metrics and measures.
• Collaborate with IT and business leadership teams to derive business value on deliverables.
• Work with cross-functional teams to meet company standards and ensure service level agreements are met.
