About The Position

The position involves managing all assigned substation projects from conception through construction and commissioning. The role requires collaboration with the Early-Stage Project Manager to support engineering requirements and scope with the Development Group. The candidate will be responsible for training, due diligence, and technical oversight of external engineers of record for all assigned switchyard projects, ensuring compliance with various agreements and industry standards. The position also includes securing engineering consulting resources, coordinating with project stakeholders, and managing project materials to minimize risks and ensure timely delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • 7+ years experience in Substation design and engineering of High Voltage substation/switchyard projects.
  • Project Engineering and/or Project Management experience.
  • Strong bias for action.
  • PMP and/or P.E. in related discipline is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all assigned substation projects from conception through construction and commissioning.
  • Work with the Early-Stage Project Manager to support engineering requirements and scope with the Development Group.
  • Train and oversee external engineers of record for compliance with agreements and industry standards.
  • Secure engineering consulting resources by developing scopes of work and evaluating bids.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders and transmission owners to develop and secure switchyard sites.
  • Source and contract geotechnical, survey, engineering, and construction services.
  • Represent E&C's interests on assigned projects and present progress and issues to management.
  • Support Transmission Services during the review of interconnection documentation.
  • Manage project long lead major material orders to minimize risks of delays.
  • Support E&C Estimating with template updates and project feedback.
  • Collaborate with project engineering resources to determine project priorities and work plans.
  • Ensure projects are implemented efficiently, cost-effectively, and safely.
  • Support assigned project commissioning activities.
  • Assist Legal in regulatory filings and hearings.
  • Collaborate with component OEMs to enhance designs for integration.
