About the position

Raytheon is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead new product development within the Electronic Warfare Mechanical Design Hardware Department. This role involves overseeing mechanical development for various programs, ensuring technical success, and mentoring junior engineers. The position requires expertise in electronics packaging design and manufacturing, as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills to maintain positive relationships with internal customers and program leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead new product development for Electronic Warfare systems.
  • Oversee mechanical development supporting various programs.
  • Act as Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) or Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL).
  • Ensure program success along technical, cost, and schedule parameters.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Design RF systems for challenging thermal and high vibration environments.
  • Make technical presentations and establish customer relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics).
  • 8 years of experience in Mechanical Design, Development, and/or Implementation of Defense related Electronic Systems, or 5 years with an advanced degree.
  • Experience executing root cause analysis and developing corrective actions.
  • Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and ASME drawing standards.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with solid modeling in Pro/Engineer/CREO or similar tools.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Broad based mechanical engineering experience across the product development lifecycle.
  • Experience with EW/Radar Systems or RF Products.
  • Experience with Conformal Antenna Array Packaging.
  • Experience managing budget and schedule (Earned Value Management).
  • Previous experience with design reviews and customer presentations.
  • Experience leading a technical team as IPTL or Mechanical Lead.
  • Experience with electronics packaging, cabling, and harness design.
  • Experience with structural and thermal analysis using FEA modeling techniques.
  • Proficiency with Parts Management and Materials and Process Engineering.
