The Principal Mechanical Engineer at Northrop Grumman will be responsible for overseeing engineering design and ensuring compliance with 2D/3D drawing formats and standards for various mechanical products. This role involves collaboration with multiple stakeholders to develop Avionics Testing Solutions and Specialized Test Equipment for advanced military platforms, including the B-2 Stealth Bomber and LGM-35A Sentinel Missile. The position requires a strong background in mechanical or aerospace engineering and the ability to manage technical data packages while meeting project commitments.

  • Oversight and ownership of engineering design for mechanical products.
  • Development and coordination for internal and customer design reviews.
  • Creation of supporting documentation such as operating/user manuals.
  • Assistance in troubleshooting lab equipment failures.
  • Coordination with engineering managers to ensure technical data packages meet project schedules.
  • Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to achieve contractual commitments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or equivalent with 5 years of related experience; OR a Master's degree with 3 years of experience; OR a PhD with 0 years of experience.
  • Ability to listen effectively and take direction.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD SECRET security clearance.
  • Active DoD SECRET or higher security clearance with investigation in the last five years.
  • Master's Degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering.
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary technical teams.
  • Experience in Aerospace or Defense industry (development or test).
  • Experience in Additive Manufacturing or 3D design & technologies.
  • Experience in an Agile development environment.
  • Experience in Instrumentation or Avionics Systems.
  • Experience with CAD Software Tools such as CATIA, SolidWorks, Siemens NX, Ansys.
