You'll partner with product and engineering on a cross-disciplinary team as we leverage a lean and agile product development process to create and maintain our products. You will be part of a design team that collaborates, practices skills and has fun together. Your main responsibility will be to lead the creation and maintenance of our ever-evolving design system. Our Principal Product Designer will be planning, cleaning, and re-structuring our Figma libraries so they're complete and easy to use for designers and collaborating with Product Designers to share library updates, provide/receive feedback, share best practices, and maintain a cohesive experience in the product. We invite you to help us reimagine the future of banking and home lending!

Responsibilities

  • Define a strategy, create a roadmap and lead a best-in-class Design System
  • Evolve existing design patterns and refine an ‘in-take process' for identifying, creating and prioritizing new reusable components based on user and team need
  • Design and propose new components and design tokens in Figma, while also working with cross functional partners to implement pattern components on web frameworks and native platform
  • Proactively identify opportunities to review code and design decisions to enforce component usage, while socializing upcoming changes to more deeply integrate the system usage in all areas of product development
  • Navigate ambiguity by maintaining clear ‘sources of truth' for engineers and designers that detail: use expectations, decision rationale and other required documentation (i.e. Token Studio, Figma, etc.)
  • Work autonomously to quickly and pragmatically execute on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Define Design System KPIs to measure health and help optimize for future usage
  • Contribute to the Design team's growth through mentorship and joining Design Team Guilds to improve the day-to-day environment
  • Rough responsibility breakdown: 70% execution, 20% strategy / planning / coordination and 10% evangelizing

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Experience Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 8+ years of experience in product design, with at least 2 years focused on design systems design
  • Portfolio that demonstrates designing and building high-quality design systems components for both consumer or enterprise grade B2B products
  • Strong proficiency in building scalable, reusable web components that integrate design tokens
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Working knowledge of native platforms (i.e. Android, iOS) to confidently work with native engineers in translating web components / designing client-specific components
  • Experience collaborating with other product designers, product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to align roadmaps and implementation details
  • Experience building and maintaining design tokens: UI design, light mode / dark mode, naming / categorization, management, conversion, version control, and distribution
  • Experience building and maintaining Design Systems documentation
