About the position

At Workday, the Global Sales Enablement team is seeking a Principal, Revenue Enablement Portfolio Manager who will play a crucial role in enhancing the effectiveness of our revenue teams. This position is designed for an experienced Portfolio Program Manager with exceptional business operations and communication skills. The successful candidate will leverage their technical expertise, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities to design, implement, and govern enablement portfolio data, systems, and processes. The primary focus of this role is to optimize the use of enablement and business resources to deliver maximum value and benefits from various projects and programs within the strategic portfolio. The responsibilities of this role include ownership of tooling, data, processes, and communications necessary for identifying, prioritizing, and coordinating project and program resources. The Portfolio Manager will also be responsible for reporting on the state and performance of initiatives within the enablement project portfolio. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of project management, as it involves facilitating the establishment of project portfolio definitions, structures, and processes, from intake and strategic alignment to execution. In addition, the Portfolio Manager will utilize metrics and data visualization to effectively report on portfolio performance and support decision-making at both the team and organizational levels. They will develop, implement, and maintain a source of truth for the enablement portfolio, ensuring impeccable data hygiene and on-demand reporting. The role also involves managing day-to-day portfolio management activities, partnering closely with the RevOps PMO to facilitate portfolio reviews and road-mapping activities, and ensuring adherence to governance functions in accordance with enterprise guidelines. The successful candidate will engage with enablement leadership to oversee, manage, and prioritize the entire lifecycle of enablement investments and initiatives, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals and objectives. Regular meetings with senior leadership will be conducted to advise on any issues arising from project performance, and the Portfolio Manager will be responsible for maintaining a roadmap of project delivery while managing prioritization, resourcing, and scheduling of requests.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and coordinate the establishment of the project portfolio definition, its structure and processes.
  • Use metrics and data visualization effectively to report portfolio performance and support decision-making.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain enablement portfolio source of truth (Smartsheets).
  • Launch common practices, tools, and templates for portfolio and project management.
  • Manage day-to-day portfolio management activities and partner closely with RevOps PMO.
  • Facilitate the budget planning and spend processes.
  • Ensure adherence to governance functions relating to the portfolio.
  • Perform regular health checks of project QA checklists and ensure scheduling of key tollgates.
  • Monitor for proper change management of scope and schedule; communicate changes with stakeholders.
  • Identify staffing needs and ensure the availability of required skills across teams.
  • Effectively manage portfolio roadmaps and create criteria for making portfolio decisions.
  • Engage with enablement, RevOps, executives, and other relevant bodies to validate and assess the project portfolio.
  • Conduct regular meetings with senior leadership to advise on project performance issues.
  • Ensure oversight and coordination of dependencies across the portfolio and resolve conflicts.
  • Maintain roadmap of project/initiative delivery and assist enablement leadership with strategy facilitation.
  • Support and advise executives on actions required to balance the portfolio.
  • Create communications and reporting around the enablement project portfolio.

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in revenue operations, business operations, consulting, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of advanced proficiency with Microsoft (Excel, PowerPoint), Google (Docs, Sheets, Slides) productivity suites or Project Management technologies.
  • 3+ years in an enterprise SaaS environment, particularly in field sales or working closely with revenue generating teams.
  • Deep project or portfolio management experience with the ability to design, implement, and govern technical systems.
  • Experience in a go-to-market function, particularly operational experience within a revenue organization.
  • Smartsheets experience is a big plus.
  • BA, BS, or equivalent in Business, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
