About the position

The Principal Supply Chain Procurement Specialist at Northrop Grumman is responsible for sourcing and procuring specialized goods and services from multiple suppliers. This role involves initiating Requests for Quotations and Proposals, analyzing pricing, and ensuring supplier quality and reliability. The specialist will work closely with internal customers to ensure specifications are met, identify cost-reduction opportunities, and manage purchase orders while ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies. The position emphasizes collaboration, negotiation, and continuous improvement using process tools like Lean Six Sigma.

Responsibilities

  • Source and procure specialized goods and services from multiple suppliers.
  • Initiate Requests for Quotations and Proposals and analyze proposed pricing.
  • Evaluate and monitor supplier quality and reliability in conjunction with the quality organization.
  • Work with internal customers to ensure specifications are appropriate for required services or products.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and manage risk through negotiations.
  • Issue and manage performance of purchase orders, ensuring compliance with public law and company policies.
  • Assess supplier performance and ensure proper documentation for logistics and warehouse organizations.
  • Review and approve supplier payments as needed.
  • Utilize process tools such as Lean Six Sigma to drive quality and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 9 years of experience in procurement or a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience, or a Master's degree with 3 years of experience.
  • Understanding of procurement policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Ability to collaborate with program management and multi-functional teams.
  • General knowledge of FAR/DFAR and associated Federal Contracting regulations.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking, and innovative behaviors in past roles.
  • Experience with multiple contracting formats, including Firm Fixed Price and Cost Reimbursable.

Nice-to-haves

  • Government contract knowledge and/or experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience using CostPoint, Cognos, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
